In this episode I am sitting down with professional soccer player, Petur Vidarsson. Petur and I have been great friends for well over a decade. We used to play soccer together over in Boston, USA. Petur has since gone on to have a very successful and long-lasting 10-year career as a professional soccer player. He has played over 250 games for one of Iceland’s most successful clubs, FH. He has won 5 Icelandic premier league titles and 1 national cup. He has also played 28 games for his club in the UEFA champions league and Europa league, which are the best club competitions in the world. In this episode, we discuss his soccer career, what it is like and what it takes to be a professional athlete, how he prepares nutritionally, physically and mentally to be at his best, the importance of sleep for athletic performance, and the strategies that can be utilised to get a team to work towards a common goal effectively. He even does his bit for Icelandic tourism and throws out some travel tips.
